Brimstone moth

Nature does not seem to like to fit in with a photographer's plans.

I was enjoying an early morning coffee in the garden prior to going out when a Brimstone moth flew in and landed on a leaf. My cameras were packed ready for the off but I quickly put a macro lens on and took a photo. This species is supposed to be common but I have not see it in the garden before.

Due to time constraints there was no time for a tripod and I had to stand on a garden chair to reach the level of the moth.

Hopefully I will be better prepared and have more time if Opisthograptis luteolata visits again.

  1. Still a nice sighting of the Brimstone, I had a similar experience today as I spotted a fox in a churchyard this lunchtime just as my camera decided it just wasn't really in the mood. Doh! Linda

  2. I found one last week in our garden. Its the first one I have found. My partner wondered what was going on when I ran to the house for my camara. It just brings the big kid out in me finding things. Mrs B finds it alittle disturbing seeing a grown man in shorts and a punk rock T shirt chasing creatures but she likes the results when I show her the photos.

  3. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment. It is great fun trying to get photos of wildlife - how cameras manage to choose a crucial moment to misbehave I do not know but it is reassuring to know it doesn't just happen to me.
